4 Top Areas & Hotels for 2024

Buckle up, and let’s start with this guide on where to stay in Canggu!

I am lucky enough to have lived in Canggu for a couple of months and I absolutely love it there! I still come back once in a while as I have friends there and it is just a fun place to be!

In short, Batu Bolong Beach is the best area to stay in Canggu if you are visiting for the first time!

Packed with sandy shores and countless restaurants, these places are the heart and pulse of Canggu! But the party doesn’t stop there! All the 4 areas that I cover in this post have a special atmosphere!

You should read this post because I did extensive research and compared all the available accommodations to curate a list of only the top-rated ones! I ordered them from most to least expensive, so you can easily pick and book your favorite in a couple of clicks!

Before we dive in, remember that Canggu is one of the most popular places in Bali, especially recently it became suuuuper crowded! So I recommend booking your hotels in advance!

If you are in a hurry

Here are the best Canggu hotels in Batu Bolong Beach & Canggu Beach!

Here’s a map that will help you visualize all the areas that I’ll talk about in this post:

1. Batu Bolong Beach – for the first time

Beach scene with people strolling and sunbathing under a sky full of dramatic cumulus clouds, with traditional colorful umbrellas dotting the shoreline

Batu Bolong Beach is basically the heart of Canggu, and the minute you arrive here, you’ll fall in love with all the cool cafés, surf schools, and trendy restaurants as well as countless beach bars!

Batu Bolong Beach is personally my favorite place in Canggu, where I really like to sit in one of those beach cafes on a pouffe chair watching the surfers and beautiful sunset views! That’s when I’m not at Amo Spa chilling in their sauna!

Cafés in Canggu are known for being the most instagrammable ones in the whole of Bali, so get ready to take lots of cool photos! These places not only have great designs but also an amazing selection of foods from local to international dishes.

If you need some suggestions check our post with the best restaurants in Canggu! We’ve got so many unique places there!

Canggu is also famous for being a surfers’ paradise – it has excellent surfing conditions, with waves suitable for beginners and experienced surfers alike. This is a perfect place to take your first surf lesson, so why not give it a try?

After all, surfing is one of the top things to do in Canggu!

Everything in Canggu is within walking distance, but in some places, there are no proper roads for pedestrians, so I highly recommend renting a motorbike/getting a taxi or a motorbike taxi to get around Canggu easily (both options are very affordable and you can use apps such as Grab or Gojek to hail a ride).

Batu Bolong/Canggu Beach has tons of great hotels, but since it is a very popular area, they can get booked out so quickly. That’s why you should make sure to make your reservation in advance. If you’re looking for something a bit more unique or simply need more options to plan your trip, check out this post for the best Airbnbs in Bali.

Perenenan is also the location where I used to live, and if you are looking for a place to stay longer, I highly recommend this area.

As I was planning to live here long-term, I decided that this area was the best place. It is a very laid-back area, but you are also a few minutes away from the action. Plus, I am obsessed with those beautiful rice fields!

Perenenenan is a nice tucked-away place to stay if you want to have a relaxed holiday, as some of the places at the heart of Canggu can be very loud at night.
